“We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.” ~ Franklin D. Roosevelt

The issues of today require new thinking, new approaches to risk and the shifting notion of rewards. Innovation exists beyond an over-saturated noun but speaks to the pressing moment of now. Your organisation exists to meet these new demands with the talent to match fund those opportunities.

DPS students are that talent: a cornucopia of creatives seeking creative opportunities to shape and influence the world in which they live.

The Diploma in Professional Studies (DPS) year-long experiential learning opportunity provides access to a variety of interns hungry for professional experiences from across the LCC Design School and for their third academic year.

As part of a four-year degree, The Diploma in Professional Studies enables dynamic creative opportunities both in the UK and abroad, with students from the Diploma in Professional Studies have worked with organisations such as:

Apple Headquarters (California, USA) / Adidas Headquarters (Germany) / Research Studios (London, Barcelona, and Berlin) / Channel 4 / Museum of Modern Art, NYC / Tate Publishing / KesselsKramer (Amsterdam) / Pentagram (London, Berlin, and NYC) / Selfridges Design Department / Thomas Matthews / Landor Associates (Shanghai and Beijing) / IDEO (San Francisco) / Airside Nippon (Tokyo)

The integration of disciplines, human-centred approaches to designing for branded spaces, including storytelling through sensory elements and how to integrate innovative technologies such as projection mapping and augmented reality into the design of branded spaces.

Our student’s work on live briefs with students from other disciplines, professional designers and organisations in the UK and abroad. Previous clients include MUZA (Malta) / The Stanley Kubrick Archive (London).

Design Management

BA (Hons) Design Management students explore the creative and experiential approach to the study of design, problem-solving, business and leadership, global cultures, innovation and sustainability, transitioning into highly employable graduates, strategic thinkers, communicators, change-makers and entrepreneurs.

Our students apply design thinking to live industry collaborations, addressing complex problems with empathy, insight, collaboration, agility, ethics and contextual intelligence.

As the only undergraduate design management course of its kind Design Management students develop a focus on human-centred values, sustainability and design thinking — values that sit at the core of students’ creative and strategic output.

Graphic Branding and Identity

BA (Hons) Graphic Branding and Identity produces the next generation of strategic thinkers and creative communicators — providing the tools to become a dynamic professional practitioner within the expanse of creative industry.

As one of the only undergraduate courses in the country, GB&I students examine branding in the context of graphic design studio practice, focusing on brand strategy and narrative as well as design and implementation.

Employers gain access to students exploring branding across a wide range of 2D, 3D or 4D graphic design contexts such as print, packaging, motion, interaction and experience design, with experience gained from projects recently set by LandorRufus Leonard, Dragon Rouge, Johnson Banks and Anyways.

Graphic and Media Design

BA (Hons) Graphic and Media Design prepares students for the future of design and emerging technologies branding and identity, social innovation — all stemming from core graphic and visual design skills.

Having worked on live briefs and client collaborations, that have previously included Water Aid / Influx Press / Musicians Against Homelessness / AKQA / venturethree, our students develop skills in a range of experimental processes, platforms and technologies — ultimately resulting in strong portfolios that demonstrate rigorous design skills and innovative practice.

Illustration and Visual Media

BA (Hons) Illustration and Visual Media is a studio-based course that produces creative and innovative illustrators prepared to take risks with their work.

Students are encouraged to view themselves as thinkers as well as image-makers as they challenge existing preconceptions and definitions of illustration.

As an employer, you will have access to students that have fostered an understanding of contemporary creative practice, critical debate having enjoyed the intellectual and creative space to examine existing definitions of illustration whilst exploring future directions for image in the modern world.

Interaction Design Arts

BA (Hons) Interaction Design Arts is a multidisciplinary, practice-led course that focuses students on the relationship between people, designed objects and user experiences.

Students work with interaction, narrative and moving-image, alongside processes such as design prototyping, film-making, coding and physical computing to answer complex design problems, having embraced approaches such as critical design and design for social change.

Working within the philosophy of 'high-tech, low-tech and no-tech', your next design intern will have benefited from the opportunity to regularly collaborate with local communities on long-term human-centred projects, in turn developing an understanding of how design impacts the world at large and the wider issues of sustainability and social inclusiveness to meet the exciting challenges faced by your contemporary design practice.

User Experience Design

BA (Hons) User Experience Design is a practice-led, digitally focused course that allows students to explore various dimensions of designing for the user experience.

Our students discover the significant role design has in crafting digital interfaces, platforms and emerging technologies that impact our daily lives.

Learning to specialise in the various techniques, methods and materials that enable the hands-on creative practitioner and maker, your next intern will have already built interfaces using prototyping tools and web technologies, whilst learning to manipulate data with code and create sensor-driven interactive environments and artefacts.
