DANIELA HERNÁNDEZ ROSALES — BEAUTY OF THE DISRUPTED

For three months, Daniela Hernández Rosales hiked around her home island of Gran Canaria, with the goal to ‘capture the reaction of nature to our destruction’.

“I had one rule, to only photograph what I came across. The immensity of nature and the effect of what we leave behind.”

As a comparison of the static and the motion of wildlife, Daniela Hernández Rosales challenged herself to try a new medium, driven by a passion for photography, and applying a knowledge of graphic design into one singular image. Growing up walking through these surroundings and retracing her steps allowed Daniela saw things through a new lens.

“I wish to bring awareness about our actions and their consequences. Many Canarian people are ignorant of the beauty and history of their land. These landscapes connect us as humans, so we must cherish them. I want to give back to it by telling the stories of this space.”

“I was able to collect a series of photographs. I’m currently working on the creation of two books, one that reflects the journey and a photography book showcasing the work. With each, I intend to experiment with graphic design and book arts which will reflect the whole journey.”
