THE POWER OF ‘NEW AGENCY’ & THE NEW AGENCY COOKBOOK

Have you ever wondered how creative individuals find the focus to develop a self-initiated passion project alongside other more urgent aspects of their practice?

Have you ever considered that it is not simply enough to graduate with a portfolio of set projects anymore? Have you begun to conclude that design graduates are the future, the next generation of entrepreneurs, design-thinkers, hyper-specialists and cultural agitators and need to craft proposals? Have you considered how important the issues and challenges that you choose to respond to need to be leading the way, free-thinking, forward-looking, rule-bending, problem-solving and socially radical? Have you ever realised the full potential of your New Agency?

A dynamic group of DPSers created a project entitled “New Agency Cookbook” to explore this very opportunity and to interview a group of creative folk who best example this speculative practice.

The project was conceived as post-graduate but also hopes to inspire everyone, introducing practicing creatives from different disciplines to reveal the ‘recipes’ of their practice.

The project was conceived as a post-graduate project but also hopes to inspire everyone. The notion of gathering their insights into a cookbook has created a great visual metaphor, with the recipes defining creativity, speculation and self-initiation.
